time for a change

Filed under: Uncategorized — xy @ 8:16 am

xx and I have started new blogs hosted by WordPress, and not just powered by the client. The fate of the influents.org domain remains uncertain for now. We may use it for some other creative task. I’ll begin sharing the new URLs if we have occasion to talk, whether over AIM or Facebook or through e-mail. Thanks to those who provided me an audience. It’s been a fairly decent year and a half.

Is it not already too late if one waits until one is thirsty to begin digging a well?”

What is your plan for life post-peak oil?I’m making a serious inquiry so that any interested parties may band together and prepare for an imminent future few are willing to face.

Professions? Education? Shelter? Food? Location? DEFENSE?

My biggest fear is one day suddenly being separated from my only family by 3,000 miles.

Keep in mind, we don’t actually have to run out of the stuff. Demand has to outstrip supply, which is already happening, and the capital and resources we put into extraction and production only have to exceed a certain threshold, far below 100%.

So, friends, let’s find strength in solidarity.

I’ve been reduced to wallowing in self-pity while listlessly eating out of my microwaveable soup bowl during my much too short lunch hour. Why? No clue. I just feel pathetic right now.

Click at your own risk. Do not click if you have anything important open or if your computer is running slow. Hah. Still, you should give it a try at some point.

Your Score: The Taoist

You scored 40 Materialism and 60 Phenomenology!

The Way is flux. The Way is order. The Way is Chaos. And if you do it right, the Way is you. You have a good balance of the material and phenomenological realms in your personal experiences, and see reality as a holistic set of interlocking systems, constantly changing, constantly supporting or resting on one another. The Tao (and the Buddhist sect it inspired, Zen) isn’t about getting on with it, it’s about realizing there’s no it to get on with. Thinkers you may agree with: Lao-tzu (duh) Thinkers that may challenge you: One is all.
